This morning, John Thill, of the Napa Library, reviewed our book on 99.3 the vine.
Listen to the recording a little farther than half way in for our book review.
KVYN Radio Book Review of Maggie and Maddy
50th Annual Napa Christmas Parade
We were honored to be apart of the Napa Downtown Association Christmas Parade for 2012.
Our generous friends, Anna and Jaret Paulson offered to allow us to use their classic 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck, and helped turn it into a banner displaying, lighted, balloon carrying Christmas float.
Napa Valley Balloons Inc. provided us with a real balloon basket just like the one Maggie and Maddy use in the book.
We filled up a 7′ red ballon with helium and attached it to the balloon basket, which the four of us (Kyle, Amy, Meghan and Katelin) were in and throwing candy canes to the attendees.
Before the parade even got started we walked the parade route handing out over 50 pencils and Maggie and Maddy holiday word search puzzles, 20 or so tote bags filled with activities for younger kids, and six of our books wrapped as presents.
We had such a great evening, and were so excited to see all the support from the community as our float passed them by. Then to top it off, the Napa Register choose to include a picture of our float as one of the three pictures with their article.
See the article in the Napa Register, where they picked a picture of Amy and Meghan as one of the three pictures published in the Sunday article.
Again, thanks to the Paulson’s for letting us use their truck and for all their work they did, and thanks to Napa Valley Balloons Inc, Gabe and Ken for letting us use their balloon basket.
Maggie and Maddy Join Napa Christmas Parade
We will be apart of the 2012 Napa Downtown Association Christmas Parade. We are planning on having an old pickup truck with our banners lined with lights. Then we will have a hot air balloon basket with a large helium balloon floating above.
Come downtown on Sat November 24th and see our float along with all the other wonderful Napa floats. The parade starts at 5pm, so come early to get a spot.
Maggie and Maddy Release Party
Our release party was held at the Napa Valley Opera House in downtown Napa on October 14, 2012. Children and adults enjoyed in a great celebration with a wide variety of appetizers and beverages.
Castello di Amorosa now carrying Maggie and Maddy Adventures in Napa Valley
Growing up in Napa there was no castle in the hills of Calistoga. Castles are typically structures found in Europe and were built from about the 1100’s to about the 1500’s. This castle was built by Dario Sattui in the mid 90’s. In 1995 the project commenced, in 2004 the below ground cellars were finished, and in 2007 the Castle finally opened to the public. The 121,000 square feet and 107 room castle is a sight to see, which is why they offer daily tours.
Having two daughters, they have many dreams and fantasy play of princesses and castles, so it was only natural to include the Castello di Amorosa in our book. The large gift shop is a perfect venue to showcase our book and is now available for purchase there.

Napa Valley Welcome Center Gift Store Includes Maggie and Maddy Book
The Napa Welcome Center recently moved into a gorgeous space in the riverfront building in downtown Napa. This is an obvious stop for most visitors to the Napa Valley as it can be overwhelming to pick and choose which destinations to visit.
There are a lot of helpful volunteers available to guide tourists, but they also have a section of goods for sale. Most recently they have decided to carry our children’s book “Maggie and Maddy: Adventures in Napa Valley.”
I had met with Clay Gregory, the CEO and president of Visit Napa Valley, or as it was previously known as Napa Valley Destination Council. Mr. Gregory was kind enough to write a review of our book as well, which is available here.

Butter Cream Bakery and Diner
This is a classic Napa diner, that has been in business for over sixty years. Kyle and Amy grew up in Napa, and as children would regularly have donuts on Sunday morning from Butter Cream Bakery. Their iconic pink and white striped building, and equally legendary pink boxes which house their sweet treats, are reminiscent of years past. Today, Kyle and Amy share that tradition of donuts from Butter Cream Bakery with their two daughters.
These past memories and now frequent visits were the inspiration to include the diner in the book. While many tourist destinations are depicted in the book, we also wanted to ensure that local destinations were also represented. Of course, many tourists have learned about this local secret and make sure it is on their list of places to visit when in town.
The owners of Butter Cream Bakery were flattered to be depicted in our book, and our proud to offer the book for sale in their bakery and diner even though they do not regularly carry any non-edible items. It gives us great pride that we were able to make Butter Cream Bakery apart of our Napa Valley children’s book.

Their downtown location has also been a long time popular destination as a homemade ice cream parlor, and now is a place where you can pick up a copy of our book “Maggie and Maddy: Adventures in Napa Valley”!
They are located very near to the new Hyatt hotel Andaz. Every hotel guest staying there should make a point to stop in to have a chocolate, ice cream, or at the very least to buy and take home a bottle of chocolate wine sauce.
