Maggie and Maddy Release Party

Our release party was held at the Napa Valley Opera House in downtown Napa on October 14, 2012. Children and adults enjoyed in a great celebration with a wide variety of appetizers and beverages.

Kids tablesThe children had their own section with children’s tables full of art projects like wooden balloons that they colored, bookmarks that they created, reading road map sticker pages, and coloring pages from the “Maggie and Maddy Adventures in Napa Valley” book. To further keep them entertained, a movie was projected onto the wall. They had their own table of snacks including donut holes donated by Butter Cream Bakery along with chocolate milk.Kids at the Launch Party This paid tribute to the scene in the book, where Maggie and Maddy are eating donuts and drinking chocolate milk at Butter Cream. And on each table was a balloon basket full of logo embellished M & Ms. A staff member was close nearby to keep the little ones occupied, while the adults mingled and waited for book signings.

Jeanty Floral arrangement for Maggie and MaddyThe Opera House lobby was transformed into a bright space with purple and green table cloths topped with beautiful arrangements of flowers from Jeanty Floral with a similar matching color palate. A banner with the logo “Maggie and Maddy Children’s Books” was hung above a table for guests to purchase additional copies of the books for their friends and families.

On either side of the lobby atop the counter tops was platters full of unique and tasteful bites of food. The bar on the right side of the lobby included items such as “Pear, Walnuts, Dried Cranberries, Mixed Field Greens with a Balsamic Vinaigrette”, “Filet with Arugula and Truffle Butter on a Sourdough Baguette”, “Tomato and Mozzarella on a Toasted Bread with Pesto”, “Muffuletta Bite”, “Assorted Cheeses by Gary Edwards”, and “Tuna Tartar in a Wonton Taco with Soy Vinaigrette, Avocado Relish, Radish and Cilantro”. These bites were served alongside Rutherford Hill wines and Domain Chandon sparkling wine.

Equally appetizing was the dessert bar across the room along with the coffee. These items included “Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars”, “Glazed and Chocolate Donut Holes by Butter Cream Bakery”, “Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake bites”, and “Chocolate Cupcakes with Cookie Dough Frosting”. The food was created and prepared by the author Amy Goleno, who has had a long time passion for small bite preparations.

Friends, family members, and prominent members of the community and media gathered in small groups looking through the newly printed children’s books and congratulated the authors and their children on their accomplishment.

As the guests departed, children were given swag bags, a logo imprinted book tote, that included several fun keepsakes such as place mats of the book cover.
